Gigaset Eco Visions - Leaf

By creating the new design study “Gigaset Eco Visions” Siemens Home and Office Communication Devices (SHC) has taken a further step in realizing their vision of stylish and environmental-friendly cordless phones of superior quality. The first two concept phones out of this series, “Solar” and “Leaf” (picture), were introduced at the Gigaset Press Day 2008 in Windsor. The phones have been engineered to be eco-friendly in terms of design, technology, materials, and characteristics throughout the entire product lifecycle – from manufacturing to recycling.

Colorware's Matte Black iPhone Fools Friends, Bloggers

It's not the 3G iPhone, but Colorware's Stealth iPhone trades in the silver trim and brushed metal back for an entirely matte black motif. It's also extraordinarily expensive, weighing in at $675 and $775 to the stock model's $399 and $499. Colorware does throw in a matte black iPhone dock and pair of earbuds, but even that probably doesn't justify the increased cost. Then again, some people really love black.

Latest iRobot

Noah Shachtman over at Wired has a very interesting look at iRobot's six year battle with Robotic FX, a company started by a former employee who allegedly (and probably) stole schematics and plans in order to build a competitor. There's too much detail to work into a short summary, but Jameel Ahed, the former employee, was caught by a private investigator deleting documents and shredding CDs containing data that belonged to iRobot.

Siemens Gigaset S680

The Siemens Gigaset S680 features Bluetooth® and Gigaset QuickSync software to synchronize all the vCard contacts stored in your phone and PC. You can use a Bluetooth® wireless headset to talk handsfree while you continue working on other things. If you have Microsoft Outlook®, you can synchronize the data on your PC with your handset using the free Gigaset QuickSync software. Bluetooth® lets you download screensavers and Picture CLIP¹ images too.

Dell Introduces Their Smallest, Greenest PC

Michael Dell, the king of Dell, just previewed his company's smallest and greenest desktop PC yet at FORTUNE Brainstorm: GREEN. There's no name for this mini green PC, shown rendered above, but it's 81% smaller than a mini tower and 70% less energy-consuming. It's also shipped in recycled and recyclable packaging, and look a whole lot like those cheapo Sun workstations that colleges love(d) to use. As long as this machine is at least as powerful as a laptop (we don't mean an Eee PC), we're all for Dell's enviro-conscious direction.

Asus' VX3 Lamborghini Laptop Arrives, Costs 2% of Real Lambo

Asus just gave a new look and hardware upgrade to its Lamborghini laptop. The VX3 edition has a 12.1" screen, weighs 3.6 lbs, and features such luxe amenities as a sapphire-crystal lens on the built-in camera, a handmade leather palm rest and a titanium alloy hinge. There is also the "authentic" Lamborghini logo to show all the kids at school what car you really want to drive when you're a balding 45-year-old with a sizable investment portfolio and two ex-wives. The PC specs aren't bad, but to be expected in a $3,300 laptop: 320GB HDD, a NVidia GeForce 9300 graphics card, Intel T9300 Core2 Duo chipset and 4GB of RAM, plus HSDPA wireless.

Waterproof PSP Bath Bag Is Every 9-Year-Old's Wet Dream

As Adrian pointed out, if we had these PSP bath bags when we were nine, we'd be a whole lot cleaner and a whole lot wrinklier than we are now. It's a bag. It holds your PSP. It goes into baths. That's pretty much all you need to know. It's unclear to us why you couldn't just get a sandwich bag from Target that would do the same thing, but sandwich bags don't have that fancy pants cord at the top. Does the PSP camera work with Skype video? Because we have an idea... [Impress via PSP Fanboy via Kotaku]

Motorcycle Simulator by Honda

Motorcycle-Simulator-by-Honda.jpg

Honda presents a motorcycle simulator for the driving test in Japan. This latest invention seems made more for scooters than for regular bikes. Are you going to feel like you’re really in the driver’s seat? Depends on how old you are! A fun travel gadget concoction, literally.

RevoPower Wheel Gas Powered Bicycle

The RevoPower Wheel is a really cool new invention that makes your regular foot powered bicycle into a Gas Powered Bicycle while letting you travel cheaply, efficiently, and easily. The RevoPower Wheel is simply a 25cc two-stroke gas-powered engine and gears within the front wheel of a bicycle. Revo says it can be installed on any bicycle by any person with very basic mechanical skills.

revo-power-wheel-gas-powered-bicycle.jpg

All you have to do is select your bike (most bicycles with 26" wheels will work), remove your old wheel, open your new wheel, and install your new wheel. Sounds pretty simple to me. Your just replacing it! Your new Gas Powered Bicycle can now travel for 200 miles per gallon at a top speed of 20 mph. To start the engine simply start peddling while the wheel can be used manually or motorized at any time. The RevoPower Wheel is expected to come out in the first quarter of 2007 retailing around $400, but you can reserve your wheel today at Revo.

BenQ-Siemens Transformer

The folks at the BenQ-Siemens design HQ must have been using that Volcano for a bit too long because these phone concepts are pretty far out there. The first is a snake-like phone that can wrap on your arm (?) and has controls on the outside. The second phone is a, uh, I don't know really. It is just a phone with a crazy design and screen that flips out and can rotate. The last phone is a bit more normal—full screen display/touchscreen and sliding control bar. Luckily they are only conceptual designs, meaning there is a .0001-percent chance of actually being manufactured.

Apple has introduced some fatter iPhones and iPod touch devices to counter user grumbles that storage was a bit weedy.
The iPhone now has a 16GB model for £329, to sit alongside the current the 8GB model, which costs £269. That’s £60 for double the storage. The iPod touch now sports a more useful 32GB model for £329 (inc. VAT), joining the existing 16GB and 8GB models which cost £269 and £199, respectively. I know at least two mates who got the 8GB iPhone and 16GB iPod touch as Christmas pressies and who will soon be kicking the cat in frustration.

Usually don't get super excited about concept cars, but this Land Rover LRX Concept has something we're quite interested in: iPhone integration. Not only does it have a slot carved out especially for the phone that allows it to dock into the car like some sort of brushed-metal lover, it's even got a gigantic "Start" button that appears so you can (we presume confirmed!) start the car! In addition to this, there's an iPod docking station on either side of the power-adjustable speakers, so you can take even more music on the go. Check the jump for an even sexier shot, and hit Jalopnik for exterior photos.

All-in-One Digital Eyepiece Camera for Hunters, Birdlovers, Spies

MINOX aims to bring "affordable digiscoping to everyone" with its new Digital Eyepiece Camera 5.0. Unlike traditional digiscoping methods of attaching a digital camera to a telescope, the 5.0 is an all-in-one solution that combines a camera, scope and eyepiece into a single device. Features include a 2.4-inch TFT screen, 40x magnification, 128MB of internal memory, SD card expansion up to 4GB, and it's waterproof and shockproof. At a price of $449 it is a hell of a lot cheaper than a good DSLR with a telephoto lens, and more convenient to use than a pieced-together digiscope.
